Rural Route 1

This is just one of the many barns, corrals, and paddocks in the valley stretching from Gunnison to Crested Butte, CO along highway 135. This is part of the Spann Ranch which has run cattle in this valley since the 1880's. During the summer and fall of 2020 I was fortunate enough to spend time exploring and painting the landscape between Gunnison and Crested Butte.  I revisited my source material in January 2023, painting this on 300# Arches hot press watercolor paper in my studio.
