The "U.P" is Michigander for Upper Peninsula. Back when I was working for a company that had manufacturing plants in Michigan, business often took me to there. On one of those rare trips when I got to go in warmer months, I took a side trip up above Leelaneau to do some sketching. This painting sold to a client long ago, but memories of those Michigan trips persist in this painting.
