Water and shorelines dominate Ketchikan, Alaskan vistas. A friend's travel journal delivered this scene to my studio doorstep where I interpreted his experience in a watercolor painting. While the shoreline is harsh, rough and rocky, late afternoon sunshine offers contrasting relief in a wash of golden light as the evening tide brings out locals for a bit of shore fishing.
