I painted this early in the morning on a cold, dreary day along the banks of the Platte River in the heart of Denver (next to I-25 and 6th Avenue). But in the interest of pushing colors, introducing the intensity of typical Colorado sky, I took some liberties with artistic license. Besides, an old abandoned industrial mill needed a little "something" to create interest, drama, and a contrast between the purity of snowbanks along the river and the grit of industry in such close juxtaposition!
